About This Piece
This was my very first design, although it has been slightly refined since. The mountain is a focal point in the Taranaki region and is the Maunga (mountain) of my children’s tribe, Ngarauru, from South Taranaki.
The sun and wave on this light-catcher reflect that the Taranaki region has a temperate climate and that the area is also renowned for having some of the best surf in the country.
The Wave also incorporates a Koru which conveys perpetual movement, tranquility and positive change.
