About This Piece
Te Kore — the great void where nothing existed — is the beginning of the Māori story of creation. From Te Kore evolved Te Pō, the perpetual night in which the children of Ranginui and Papatūānuku were confined.
Tāne Mahuta placed his shoulders against the earth, thrust his feet upward, and with his last reserves forced Ranginui to the heavens, flooding the world with bright light.
An intricate and meaningful piece celebrating emergence into the world of light (Te Ao Mārama).
